On April 7, 2015 the Board of Trustees named John Brummitt as the incoming General Director of the Board of Retirement. John will assume the duties of the incoming Director on July 1, 2015 working beside Ray Lewis who will be retiring December 31, 2015.
John will assume the role of General Director, President/CEO on January 1, 2016. He will be the fourth person to hold that position since the office was established in 1969. He joined the staff of the Board on April 1, 2006 as the Business Manager and was later named CFO.
John is a 2000 Graduate of Happy Valley High School in Elizabethton, TN. He received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Welch College, Nashville, TN in 2004. He went on to receive his Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance from Tennessee Technological University, Cookeville, TN in 2011.
He is married to the former Ashley Coker. Both John and Ashley are children of Free Will Baptist ministers and are very involved in their local church, the Donelson Fellowship.
