President and CEO
John Brummitt, son of a Free Will Baptist minister, has been with the Board of Retirement since the spring of 2006. He assumed the role of President and CEO in January 2016. John graduated in 2004 with a business degree from Welch College and in 2011 graduated with honors with an MBA/Finance degree from Tennessee Tech University. He also earned his Charter Retirement Planning Counselor Certification. John is married to Ashley and together they have two sons, Jude and Parker.
Member Relations Representative
Claiborne Scott, daughter of Len and Aimee Scott, is a native of Clarksville, TN. She teamed up with the staff of the Board of Retirement in November of 2021. She attended Welch college and graduated in 2020 from APSU with a degree in Leadership and Organizational Management with a focus in Hospitality/Event Planning. She enjoys doing mission work in Jamaica and traveling with her family.
Chris Compton joined the staff of the Board of Retirement in 2016. Chris is a native of Greeneville, Tennessee. He is a graduate of East Tennessee State University, where he earned an A.A.S in Radiologic Technology and a B.S. in Health Care Administration and Welch College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Ministry. He completed a M.A. in Bible Exposition in 2007 from Columbia International University.
Melissa Goucher joined the Board of Retirement in December 2021, after moving to the area from Hernando, Mississippi (a suburb of Memphis). She holds a B. A. in Psychology from the University of Central Arkansas and worked for 12 years in banking before serving in an administrative/financial role in several churches and, most recently, a private Christian school. She has been married to Scott since 1993 and has 3 daughters and 1 son.
